Matthew

Taken from a online Christian source,

“Matthew was not written to chronicle the events of Jesus’ life, but rather to present the undeniable evidence that Jesus Christ is the promised Savior, the Messiah, the King of kings and Lord of lords. It begins by accounting the genealogy of Jesus, then his birth, baptism and public ministry. The miracles recorded in Matthew reveal Jesus’ authority and true identity.”

I am attempting to go through the Gospel, between Christmas and Easter (it works out pretty well to be one book a month 🙂 ), to really understand Jesus’ life more, and walk with Him through His life and teachings, between his birth and death, so that when Easter comes, I can understand more fully the sacrifice Jesus made to die for my sins.  I want to know Him more, so I can love Him more.  And the best way I can know Him more is to read the Gospel.

The One Year Bible has been very important to me over the past 2 years and has taught me so very much about my faith.  I am a month out from reading through it the second time, and I cannot imagine not having it with me the past two years and as an integral part of my life.  Just reading the Word purifies my mind and soul.  It is simply amazing and holds so much power over our lives here and in eternity.  God’s Word is eternal!!!

Reading through the Old Testament has taught me a lot about God, the Father, and the promises (prophecies, etc) of a Saviour…WHY we need a Saviour and a Mediator.  Reading through the New Testament, I see those promises and prophecies fulfilled…and then I get to see what kind of life the Lord desires me to live…and enjoy that relationship with Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit, that ABUNDANT LIFE, that Jesus came to bring us.

Combining the Old Testament and New Testament, we get a full picture of the creation of the world, our AWESOME Creator, His Covenant with His people (His Everlasting Love, Faithfulness, Grace, and Mercy), His Promises, His Promises Fulfilled, His Sacrifice, and His Plan of Redemption for Us All.  To me, it is a Love Story.  As I am reading, I become intimately acquainted with the Lover of My Soul.  And it fills me up. 🙂
