I am loving the series our church is doing here on post right now–it is about our identity in Christ. The first part was about who we are in Christ. That we are saved, accepted, valued, loved, redeemed, and so much more in Jesus and because of what He has done for us. Our identity in Jesus should define who we are.
This next part of the series was about our part: leaving our past behind and focusing and following Jesus, accepting responsibility for who we are in Christ and what God wants us to do, conforming our priorities to the Lord’s priorities, and entrusting our destiny to HIM.
Here is a good catch phrase to sum up part of the sermon–when tempted to make the world’s priorities our priorities vs. God’s priorities, think:
When I feel tempted to pursue POPULARITY, I should seek and pray to fulfill GOD’S PURPOSE for me instead,
When I am tempted to pursue PLEASURES, I should seek and pray to LOVE GOD’S PEOPLE instead,
When I am tempted to pursue POSSESSIONS, I should seek and pray for GOD’S PEACE instead.

If we seek and pray to follow HIS plan for our lives, there will be much joy and peace in this! It brings far greater, lasting fulfillment.
