This past weekend was incredible all around. Brian and I have been working HARD with the kiddies on obedience. We have felt the spiritual attack on our family…energy levels sky rocketing with the kids, obedience coming very hard for them…we prayed, God delivered, we were equipped with new ways to get all that energy out, and different ways to schedule our days to include lots of time to get those sillies out! And to really HOLD the line in obedience…during school, during naps, all the time. We saw the fruit of that hard work and our obedience to what the Lord was telling us to do. Isn’t it wonderful to see that fruit of obedience? As we are coming back, we are going to keep working hard in the Tinklepaugh School of Obedience! 🙂
As we work hard in helping them learn to obey, God is teaching us how to love them SO deeply–their endless energy, even their struggles, and their beautiful, amazing hearts. He is giving us a deep, rooted love in them. I love that. He also gave me a verse…probably one of the most relevant verses I’ve had to my struggles in parenting and with myself:
“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.”
– 1 Timothy 1:15-16
As I allow the Lord’s unlimited patience to flow through me to my children (while working hard to teach them to obey), He is most glorified in me!
